Hi! I’m Flor…

A woman with long dark hair, smiling, wearing earrings, and a white top, outdoors with a blurred natural background.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and the founder of Calmness Therapy. I’m so glad you’re here !

My journey to becoming a therapist began as I encountered my own life transitions in early adulthood. These including my own therapy experience while desiring occupational changes; becoming a parent; and perhaps most importantly, through 15+ years of working in frontline roles that left me as an observed of the many mental health needs that were unmet in our own community.

I witnessed firsthand how life’s challenges can affect people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. I felt a deep and true calling to accompany and support others in navigating those moments. I still recall how transformative it felt to be in a space where I was on the receiving end of that care — a place where I could reflect, grow, and work through challenges without fear of judgment. It is now an honor to sit on the other side and give back in the same way I was lucky enough to receive!

My hope is that you will easily see the values I try to hold most present in my work: kindness, respect, and empathy.

When I’m not at the practice, I enjoy connecting with nature—whether it’s a hike, bike riding, a walk in the park, or simply soaking in the fresh air, having a meal or relaxing on my home deck!

I am married, and have two energetic pre-teens 🧒🧒, and a fury friend called “Shakira” 👉🏼. They keep me busy with their activities and adventures, but spending time with them is one of my greatest joys.

Our family time also involves watching good series, listening to podcasts, doing karaoke 🎤🎶, reading, spending quality time with friends, cooking, and baking—all simple pleasures that help me recharged and help me stay grounded.
